How to See Through the
Window of Your Life:
An Exercise for Goal Setting

If you’re looking back at January and saying, “Well, that didn’t work really well,” then this blog is for you.

First things first, I want to remind you of a quote: Don’t complain that you didn’t get the results you were looking for because you didn’t put in the time and you didn’t put in the effort.

You’ve absolutely gotta take some time and put in some effort if you want to make a change. It’s a brand new month, and it’s time to get remotivated. And remember: Little things make all the difference in the world. You don’t have to start big – but you can start right now.

Take out a piece of paper and divide it into four equal columns. In the first column, write down 10 things you want to work on, whether it’s your relationships, your job, your spirituality, ways you want to help others, or something spontaneous you want to do. All the topics you’re trying to get involved with in order to improve your life.

In the three other margins, write three years: 2022, 2023, and 2024. Now, you say, “Where do I want to be in 3 years? Where do I want to be at the end of this year?” You might not be able to accomplish everything in just one year, but that’s okay. This is only part of your life – a window into its most important parts.

Many people spend more time planning the wedding than the marriage; the job than the life.

What are you most passionate about? Who do you love spending time with? Use that to make the window of your life become clearer. 

In all we’ve talked about, remember to believe in yourself. Remember that you’re the president of your own life. Where do you want to be at the end of it? Make good choices now. Your future depends on it, and every day is a fresh start.
